Wheat per capita support price likely to increase

ISLAMABAD: Sources said that the per capita support price of wheat in the country will be increased today.

According to ARY News, an ECC meeting will be held in Islamabad today under the chairmanship of Finance Advisor, in which a two-point agenda will be considered.

Sources said that the meeting of the Economic Co-ordination Committee will review the available wheat reserves in the country and a summary of the increase in the per capita support price of wheat will also be presented.

According to sources, the per capita support price of wheat is likely to increase by Rs 345, which will increase the per capita price from Rs 1,400 to Rs 1,745.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has proposed a support price of Rs 1,800 for wheat, while Punjab has proposed a per capita price of Rs 1,650.

Sources said that Balochistan has proposed to fix Rs 1,745 per quintal but Sindh has not proposed any support price for wheat per quintal.

In addition to the subsidized price of wheat, the agenda of the meeting also includes a summary on registration of electricity and gas for the zero rated sector.
