Voting for Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly elections continues
Despite the snowfall and severe cold weather, voting for the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly elections continues.
Voting for 23 of Gilgit-Baltistan’s 24 seats began at 8 a.m. and will continue uninterrupted until 5 p.m.
More than 700,000 voters will exercise their right to vote, while more than 1.5 million will be voting for the first time.
Due to rain and snowfall in the upper areas, staff could not reach the polling stations in Ganache Legislative Assembly constituency GBA-24, Siltar and Siachen Valley, which delayed the voting process.
The total number of polling stations in Gilgit-Baltistan is 1260 out of which 362 are joint polling stations for male and female voters, 297 polling stations have been declared sensitive and 280 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive.
