Senate accepts nomination papers of Yousuf Raza Gilani

The nomination papers of Yousuf Raza Gilani, the unanimous candidate of PDM for the Senate elections, have been accepted.

According to the verdict, Yousuf Raza Gilani’s five-year disqualification has ended. Cases against Yousuf Raza Gilani are pending in the courts. No one can be barred from contesting elections on pending cases in the courts. Yousuf Raza Gilani is eligible to contest Senate elections.

Yousuf Raza Gilani’s lawyer says that the nomination papers of Yousuf Raza Gilani have been accepted by the Returning Officer. PTI’s lawyer had objected that Yousuf Raza Gilani was serving a disqualification sentence. The Returning Officer rejected his objection. The objection regarding NAB cases has also been rejected. The Returning Officer has stated that Yousuf Raza Gilani can contest the elections.

The Election Commission rejected the PTI’s objections. The scrutiny of candidates is underway in the Election Commission. The scrutiny will be completed today.
