Punjab Shahi Imam passes away, CM expresses grief
The Chief Minister of Punjab expressed his grief over the passing away of Shahi Imam, Muhammad Ahmad Abbas. The latter was famous for promoting peace and harmony in India during a very difficult time when he passed away at age 96 on Sunday March 26th 2017.
The chief minister conveyed that it is with deep sense of sadness to know about demise of Mr. Ahmedullah Khan who did great service towards promotion communal amity between Hindus & Muslims by engaging himself extensively under guidance from Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya (RA). He further stated that Khwaja Sahib’s life will be cherished source inspiration not only for human beings but also other living creatures as well because despite being head priest; he never felt ashamed or afraid working
Punjab’s former Shahi Imam passed away on Friday evening, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh expressed his grief over the demise.
He further said that he was a spiritual leader and it is very unfortunate to have lost lives of people in violence during this holy month of Ramadan. He also appealed to all sections for maintaining peace and harmony throughout Punjab state at present time when there are many crucial issues being faced by common public due to which they need maximum support from each section living here so as not be affected or get hurt badly while working together towards resolving these matters with utmost priority. The CM has announced three days mourning period across entire state where national flag will remain half mast until Sunday morning after meeting officials concerned about its proper hoisting again post-mourning
