Maulana Adil’s assassination is an attempt by Pakistan’s enemies to disturb peace: Army Chief

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has strongly condemned the assassination of renowned religious scholar Maulana Adil.

On the assassination of Maulana Adil, Superintendent of Farooqia University, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that the assassination of Maulana Adil was an attempt by the enemies of Pakistan to disturb the peace.

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa also directed the Pakistan Army to extend all possible assistance to the civil administration to bring the culprits to book.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had also condemned the targeted killing of Maulana Adil and said that India wanted to create Shia-Sunni sectarian strife in Pakistan by killing clerics.

In addition, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had directed immediate arrest of the killers of Maulana Adil, saying that some extremists wanted to disturb the peace of the city.

It may be recalled that Maulana Dr Adil Khan, son of the late Maulana Saleemullah Khan, former head of the Federation of Madrassas and superintendent of Farooqia University, and his driver were martyred in the assassination attempt.

According to police, Maulana Dr Adil Khan Vigo was present in Shah Faisal Colony No. 2 in his car when the accused on a motorcycle allegedly opened fire on his car.
