IMF made a new demand from Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has demanded a reduction of Rs 1,000 billion in revolving debt in the energy sector from Pakistan.
According to sources, the IMF has demanded a reduction in revolving loans through the World Bank and the IMF said that the World Bank is negotiating with Pakistani authorities on issues related to revolving loans.
According to sources, the IMF has demanded that in order to reduce the revolving debt, the electricity rates should be further increased or the government of Pakistan should repay Rs. ۔
Sources said that the IMF is of the view that it is not possible to start the program with the IMF before the payment is made.
According to sources, the volume of revolving debt of Pakistan’s energy sector is currently Rs 2,266 billion.
