Emma Watson has revealed she was scared and lonely during her first few days on the set of Harry Potter. The 27-year-old actress, who played the studious Hermione Granger in the fantasy films, said the experience was the most terrifying of her life and she even considered walking away from the role. Emma said: ‘I was really scared and really lonely, especially that first week, because I had all these scenes with all these amazing actors that I was working with for the first time and I just didn’t know how to be.’

The 26-year-old actress said she and co-star Rupert Grint were ‘terrified’ when they were ushered into the film’s cast and crew for the first time. Watson, who played Hermione for ten years, also said she was ‘bored’ of her character by the end of the franchise. In an interview with Time magazine, the Beauty And The Beast actress said: ‘I was scared and lonely. I remember the first time I realised I was famous was when I went to get a take-out coffee and the woman said, “Oh, let me get that for you”.’

Emma Watson has revealed she almost quit playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films. The 27-year-old British actress, who played the heroine of the wizarding world in all eight movies, said she was scared and lonely before filming started. ‘I was very nervous,’ Emma said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. ‘I really wanted to do the role. But I was so scared of letting everyone down. I was scared that I wasn’t going to do a good job. I was scared that I wasn’t going to know how to do it. ‘I was scared that I wasn’t going to be liked. I was scared that I wasn’t going to fit in. I was scared that the fans wouldn’t accept me. I was scared that I wasn’t going to live up to Emma Thompson (Hermione’s character in the Harry Potter books).’
