Firdous Ashiq Awan replaces Fayyaz Chohan in Punjab Cabinet

Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz Al-Hassan has been removed from his post while Firdous Ashiq Awan has been made Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazar.

A notification has also been issued to remove Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan from office. According to the notification, Firdous Ashiq Awan has been made Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Punjab.

Earlier, Javed Akhtar was the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Information.

According to the notification, the information department has been withdrawn from Fayyaz Chauhan and he will now be the only provincial minister in the colonies department.

According to the notification, Firdous Ashiq Awan will also have the information department. Besides, two more Punjab ministers Mehr Muhammad Aslam and Zawar Hussain Warraich have also been removed from their posts.

Mehr Mohammad Aslam was the operative and Zawar Hussain Waraich was the Minister of Prisons.

It may be recalled that while addressing a function in March 2019, Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan had sharply criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and during that time he had also uttered insulting words against the Hindu community and he had to resign. However, on December 2, 2019, he was re-appointed as Punjab Information Minister.
