Doctor Who producers ‘hint that the next Time Lord will be another woman
Doctor Who fans were sent into a frenzy after the show’s executive producer hinted that the next Time Lord could be a woman. Talk show host Graham Norton was asking the show’s executive producer Chris Chibnall a question when he mentioned that Doctor Who is often referred to as a ‘boy’s show’ by the public. The 55-year-old said to the Doctor Who boss that he would love to see a female doctor, prompting Mr Chibnall to reply: ‘I would love to see that too.’
BBC bosses have hinted that the next Time Lord could be another woman, it has been reported. BBC drama controller Polly Hill has confirmed that the search for a new Doctor, who will replace Jodie Whittaker when she leaves in December, is still continuing. It comes after a number of people have been linked to the role, including former Death in Paradise star Kris Marshall and Broadchurch star Olivia Colman. However,
Hill said that producers are open to the idea of a female Doctor when asked at the Edinburgh TV Festival about the possibility. She said: ‘It’s not a show that we’re going to be running for 10 years. It’s a show that needs to come to a natural end and I think that the most important thing is that we don’t feel as though we’re letting the audience down by not giving them the next Doctor that they want.’
