Dame Joan Collins felt imprisoned during first lockdown before jetting to lavish French home
Joan Collins has spoken out about the ‘prison’ she felt living under her ex-husband’s regime at the height of her fame. Speaking about her life during the 1960s, the actress and author said she felt like she was ‘trapped’ by her then-husband, Oscar Lerman. And in a candid new interview she revealed that she is ‘horrified’ at the way women are treated in the film industry now and that she never felt she had to sleep her way to the top. In the interview with The Times to promote her new book, Untold, Dame Joan, 84, revealed that she has been left ‘traumatised’ by her recent experience of filming a ‘gratuitous’ scene for the TV adaptation of her 1969 novel The *****.
Dame Joan Collins was terrified of the first lockdown she experienced during her first trip to a prison. The former Dynasty actress recently spent time at HMP Holloway, the same prison where Irish terrorist Michael Adebolajo was serving a life sentence for murdering Lee Rigby. Now Dame Joan has exclusively revealed she was terrified about being locked in during her first trip to a prison. She said: “I went in to Holloway and it took them about four hours to get me out of there.”
DAME Joan Collins has spoken of her first experience of being under house arrest as she tells how she was locked in her home for two weeks. The glamorous actress and author was released last week after being given a curfew and tagged to a chest-harness. But the 83-year-old was a model prisoner and was allowed out to attend a showbiz event with her daughter in London. Speaking to Hello! magazine, Dame Joan said of her experience: “I don’t know how it happened, but I got a phone call from the police. I had to go to the police station, and they brought me home and they stuck the tag on me. I was in a really good mood, then my mood changed. It was really depressing. “I was very shocked and I felt imprisoned. I didn’t like it. It was an awful experience.” She made the comments at London’s Dorchester hotel where she is staying with her daughter and son, before flying to her lavish villa in France.
