Al Sharpton calls on Biden to fight filibuster. | US politics

Al Sharpton, a civil rights activist and MSNBC political commentator, has called on Vice President Joe Biden to go against the Republican filibuster in order to push for gun control legislation. The US Senate voted this week that it would not even bring up any of several proposed bills relating to stricter gun laws following the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School two months ago.
The Associated Press reports that Al Sharpton told his TV audience last night: “If there’s no deal reached between Republicans … then let [Biden] make sure he keeps all nine justices” on board by making them understand how important getting tough background checks are – especially when they are filibustered again next year if passed now with just 51 votes rather than 60 needed under current rules.”

Al Sharpton, a civil rights activist who has long been involved in politics and the Democratic party as well as an ordained minister of the Baptist denomination, called on Joe Biden to fight back against Republican Senator Mitch McConnell’s proposed filibuster today. According to Sharpton “the people deserve better than this.”
